MCITP:Microsoft Certified I.T. Professional
Currently there are three separate certification tracks that lead toward the MCITP certification, but expect Microsoft to release new MCITP tracks tied to the upcoming launch of Windows Vista, Exchange 12 and Office 12. The three current tracks are:
MCITP: Database Developer (MCTS plus two exams required)
MCITP: Database Administrator (MCTS plus two exams required)
MCITP: Business Intelligence Developer (Not yet released – MCTS plus two exams required)
In all cases, each MCITP track requires that the candidate first pass the corresponding MCTS exam, the MCTS: SQL Server 2005, and then take a further two exams to gain the MCITP certification credential. As the MCTS: SQL Server 2005 is common across all three certification tracks, candidates can earn multiple MCITP credentials by passing just two more exams for each track.
The Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification helps validate that an individual has the comprehensive set of skills necessary to perform a particular job role, such as database administrator or enterprise messaging administrator. MCITP certifications build on the technical proficiency measured in the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications. Therefore, you will earn one or more MCTS certifications on your way to earning an MCITP certification.
MCITP candidate profile
MCITP candidates are capable of deploying, building, designing, optimizing, and operating technologies for a particular job role. They make the design and technology decisions necessary to ensure successful technology implementation projects.
